So my new job is having me travel alot up by baltimore and north of it, so I am going to move to baltimore, Thanks Eckington for the good times, I hope you have bright future ahead of you.

Just wanted to let everyone know that there is a pitbull with his owner who walks his pitbull or sometimes more then one off leash down R street Alley NE. Keep a look out and call the police, I have done so a few mins ago.

D.C. Cracking Down On People Who Feed Parking Meters

WASHINGTON -- D.C. is cracking down on people who try to cheat the parking meter system.

Officials said two-hour zones are there for a reason, and drivers are not allowed to come back and pump more quarters into meters after time expires.

The Department of Public Works is testing new technology to make it easier to catch cheaters.

The technology could include license plate readers that scan cars in an area.

This is the dumbest thing ever. They city is still getting the money they want. How about ticketing the cops when they are eating at McD's double parked or catching the ups/fed ex guys parking where it says no parking at any time, or the parking enforcement who never comes around when you call them.

Throw Your Trash In A Trashcan

Okay so I am on my porch and this guy gets out of his girlfriends car and throws his McD's trash on the street and then throws the rest of his trash onto the field of McKinley Technology High School. I cant believe some people in this area. I will be posting pics of this guy that I took.

McKinley Technology High School football/track field fence is being replaced

So it looks like all the letters and photos to the goverment has work.
McKinley Technology High School football/track field chain fence is being
replaced with iron. The fence I am talking about is the one
that goes up 1st street ne inbetween Emery ES/ McK. HS and along r
street alley NE. The fence is turning out really nice and the workers have all been nice and friendly have taken their time when in the alley with cars parked. I will post pics up later on today or tomorrow.

Out of State kids coming to DC to use our school?

(1st thing 1st I know we are not a state)

So as I am out front water the flowers and plants I am noticing alot of Maryland tag cars going to Emery ES and picking up kids. In the morning time I just thought it was teachers going in and parking cause I have not payed much attention to this. But now I am wondering, are parents lying to the District to have their kids go to school here so they can pick them up on the way home? Now I am pretty sure this is illegal, but its not really harming anyone is it?

Well I think that its wrong that we are paying for out of state kids coming to our schools. If the kids/parents live here in DC then this is a great chance for the city to make money off of cars that are illegaly tagged. I've noticed 6 cars with MD tag in just 10 mins. Just something to think about.

My dog got hit by a car.....Monday 05 2007

Okay so I have my dog on the leash and I am waiting for my garage door to close then we start walking and next thing I know my dog get hit in the head/face by a car driving up the alley the wrong way. I yelled at the car and the passenger in the car noticed us and the car kept going. It happened in R street alley NE in the part that is only one way from Lincoln rd NE to 1st street NE.
He seems to be okay, this is the 1st time one of us has gotten hit but there has been more then 8 other times where one of us almost got before by people going up the alley the wrong way. I do not know who contact about this. This is getting really old really fast, a few times I have yelled at the people and they given me shit about me yelling at them for going the wrong way.
What if I was a kid playing in alley and this happened and it could happened since Emery ES is 2 house's down from mine.

Drug Deals Going On Non Stop @ One Location

So I've been watching people who come into the alley or R street NE @ Lincoln NE. I would say atleast 50% of the people go behind the homes on Lincoln rd NE with someone else and come back out within 5 mins. Or as I just saw a few minutes ago, they may just do the deal out in the open in the R street Alley NE. Also I notice cars coming into the alley picking someone up at R street NE Alley @ Lincoln rd NE driving them down the alley making a right onto 1st NE and another right onto R street NE then ending up at R street NE Alley @ Lincoln rd NE dropping the person off and speeding down the alley.

Another thing, People driving up R street alley NE the wrong way from 1st street NE to Lincoln rd NE. It is only ONE WAY and it is marked with DO NOT ENTER and yet the people who are doing this give you looks and talk shit when you tell them its one way.

I am somewhat in shock over this, I mean why hasn't the people who live here do something about? Well I guess that is another topic for it own blog.

Contruction Trucks Using R st. Alley as passway

So I am all for making it easier on the construction trucks/dump trucks to get to whatever they are doing at McKinley Technical High School football field to have it done faster. As this has been going on week after week for the entire summer. Once school starts back up in 2 weeks there is going to be a problem since almost 1/2 of the kids that go to Emery Elementary, walk without parents to and from school The dump trucks don't seem to stop when they reach intersection of 1st N.E. and R alley N.E. Not to mention that most of the students of McKinley Technical High School that drive use that alley to get to and from school too while talking on their cell phones. I'm just afraid that most of them will not be paying attention and there will be an accident, as there almost was this past spring every time two cars come to 1st street NE and R street alley NE. So I will be making calls to the mayors office everyday once school starts back up, about why the trucks can not use the actually entrance to McKinley Technical High School on T street N.E. and about how unsafe the drivers of the trucks are.

R street ne, an alley or a street?

So within the pass 15 mins there has been 4 cars that speed down R street ne alley(between lincoln and 1st ne) like its R street, now the reason why its pissing me off so much is the fact that is not a street and should not be used to pass the light at Lincoln and R n.e. There are homes on R street that the kids play in the alley to stay off the street and other people are in the alley cleaning their cars and such.

Opening an Italian pizza/sub/pasta restaurant

So my partner and I are thinking about opening an Italian pizza/sub/pasta restaurant on North Capital Street. We do not know much about doing this but we do know that we do want to do it. I've been checking out www.sba.gov and its helpful but would like to actually talk with some people who know the area and what the community would want if not this type of restaurant.

Just Saying Hello

Hello Eckington and surrounding areas, Name is Mike and just wanted to introduce myself to everyone. My partner Michael and I just moved into the area 3 months go. We have a Greater Swiss Mountain Dog who will be 1yr old and is 130lbs rite now.

We both are looking to get more involved in the community. If anyone has any advice or where to go to get info please let me know. We do know that we want to have the alleys in our area be kept clean and the schools around be kept up to date on cutting back trees and weeds and fixing fences and light post.
